The Knyaz Club Branch — Sumy

It is no secret that Knyaz Historical Reconstruction Club is present not only in Kharkiv but also has a Sumy branch. Today we’ll tell you a bit more about it.
The Sumy branch of Knyaz Club has a long and interesting history — one that goes back well before it joined our club community, more than ten years. It all began when a few enthusiasts who loved role-playing games decided to start their own club in Sumy. One of the first was Borys Bashkatov — the current and long-standing captain of «Knyaz Sumy».

Over time the fighters developed as part of the «Akra Alliance»; they also took part in the very first Historical Medieval Battle world championship «Battle of the Nations» back in 2010. The Sumy contingent regularly made the strongest line-ups of the Ukrainian national team and performed well at every tournament they could reach. Their group grew and added new, promising fighters who, in keeping with tradition, also became leading members of the national team.
In time the Akra Alliance lost its strength and fell apart. Sumy was left on its own and faced a choice — where to grow next. As branch captain Borys Bashkatov recalls: «I remember the lads and I thinking it over. What do we do next? We argued for a long time, but in the end decided to join a club with strong fighters, so we could build a solid line-up for new wins.»
And Ilias Vyshutin, captain of Knyaz HRC, remembers: «I remember Borya coming over to meet us — we talked for a long time about the past and the future. But we worked it out and understood that from then on, we were one team.»

Today the Sumy branch «Knyaz Sumy» is part of every leading club line-up. Their numbers have grown significantly and their gear has improved. And above all — Knyaz Club has become a reliable team of like-minded, strong fighters who compete brilliantly at tournaments!
