The Battle of Grunwald

Knyaz Club spent the midpoint of summer in Poland. On 11–15 July we took part in one of the largest and most heartfelt festivals in medieval reconstruction — the Battle of Grunwald, which originally took place on 15 July 1410.

We spent 4 wonderful days far from civilisation, living in tents near the battlefield, deep in the daily life of the Middle Ages, taking part in tournaments, the reconstruction of the Battle of Grunwald, and, of course, the feasts.

It’s worth noting that during the reconstruction our club represented the Banner of Saint George — that is, we fought for the Teutons. But during the decisive battle we joined the Polish side to even out the numbers, and so we finished on the side of the historical victors of the Battle of Grunwald!

Results from the «Grunwald» sporting tournament — for our club, placings were:

– Longsword silver league — Borys Bashkatov, 1st place.
– Sword & Shield — Alla Shovkoplias, 2nd place.
– 2 vs 2 fights — «Knyaz 2», 2nd place.
– 16 vs 16 fights — «Banner of Saint George» (Knyaz Club and KS Rycerz) — 2nd place.
